SafeTRANS owns key simulation and validation platforms covering all modes of transport.

RailSiTe®

Railsite

RailSiTe®. The railway laboratory RailSiTe® offers the opportunity to analyze operations control systems along with various operational concepts. A validation of the interoperability of components from different suppliers can be achieved. The laboratory’s modular structure ensures flexibility and extensibility.

Since 2004 the institute including the RailSiTe® is certificated as inspection body of the Notified Body Interoperability (Eisenbahn-Cert).

View Car

Picture of View Car ViewCar is a vehicle dedicated to the analysis of drivers' behaviour and their cognitive processes in road traffic. It is equipped with a variety of sensors to measure and record the surrounding traffic scenario, the gaze direction of the driver, his actions, his workload and the resulting behaviour of the vehicle. This equipment enables researchers to model drivers' behaviour and to study safety and acceptance of assistance systems.

Dynamic Driving Simulator

Picture of Dynamic Driving Simulator Dynamic Driving Simulator is used for the validation of assistance functions in an advanced state of development. The realistic design of the simulator provides a valid evaluation of the functions also for critical situations and therewith a secure transfer to the testing vehicle and to real traffic. The driving simulator generates a realistic driving feeling by three parameters: an efficient motion system, a high quality projection system with visualisation and the integration of a complete vehicle.

Virtual Reality Lab

Virtual Reality Lab Virtual Reality Labor. The VR-Lab consists of an immersive display (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) and suiting computer-hardware. By using stereo projection and a head tracking device it is possible to display a holographic simulation of a car cockpit and a virtual landscape. The VR-Lab allows rapid prototyping of new assistance systems in life-like conditions and appearance.
